Kalamaki Resort in Zakynthos Greece

Kalamaki is another of the island's tourist resorts. Its beautiful beach explains why this areas is a favourite amongst many visitors.

On a windy day, the image of the beach is particularly impressive as its tall rocks along the side resist the force of the waves.

The beach features a large patch which is covered by sand-dunes, "ammokoulouma" as the locals call it. During spring, this sandy patch is covered in water-lilies, whose fragrance is believed to travel far out at sea.

The left-hand-side of the beach is dominated by an impressive formation of plaster rocks, the famous Gypsolithi or Ypsolithi.
